About Keith

Keith "KC" Clawson is a third generation Sheridan County resident. Involved in local agriculture for the past 35 years, he and his wife Laurel continue ranching west of Plentywood in the home where they raised their four girls and son, all now grown.

With a life steeped in the rich traditions of life in Montana, KC has worked in most of the fields that make Sheridan County economically viable. During high school, he learned construction basics working for Gilbert and Delbert Marsh, then went on to work in the oil industry on a pipeline and workover rigs with Dick Shackelford, spending 14 years in oil exploration and production, travelling over a three-state area. When the kids were little, he entered into a career with the Montana Department of Transportation performing maintenance on Sheridan County's state highways—that's 25 years of experience and know-how directly related to our most basic and vital of infrastructures.

KC believes one of the best things about living in Sheridan County is the opportunity to be actively involved in community life. He has served on various boards, and held leadership positions including: Stockman’s Association Board, Sheridan County Fair Board, 4-H Livestock Committee, 4-H Council President, PHS football coach, and was one of the original founders of the local AAU wrestling program.

KC and Laurel have five grown children and three grandchildren. All five of their kids graduated from Plentywood High School. (Go Wildcats!)  The four girls all completed their undergraduate studies and two are currently working on advanced degrees, while their son is in his third year of college. KC and Laurel firmly believe their children all have achieved so highly academically based on the outstanding educational foundation in the Plentywood School system.
